Is anyone else having issue with the system being very, very slow?

Let's perform some steps to check if this could be a browser related issue. 

You can use a private browser(Ctrl + Shift + N) to access your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. This doesn't store any browsing information which will surely speed up the loading process and prevent any issues. 

Once done, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete the browsing history. You can also try switching to a different browser.
