Why am I no longer able to process credit cards from my Quickbooks Online app on my phone?

Up until a this month, or so, I was able to process credit cards directly from my Quickbooks Online app on my phone. Now, when I try to process a payment from my phone, all I'm able to do is mark HOW they maid the payment. I don't even have an option to scan, input, or swipe a card. Why has this changed, and what am I to do to process credit cards? I know I can process them on GoPayment, but they are completely separate app. They don't communicate with each other, at least from my experience they don't.

You need to make sure both your QuickBooks Online mobile app and your device are updated to the latest release. This ensures the operating system is compatible with the app. The mobile app supports the following operating system:

  • Android
    Operating Systems: 4.1 and greater.
  • iPhone/iPad
    Operating Systems: 9.3 and greater.

Once done, go to your browser and connect your GoPayment account with QBO. This enables you to accept card payments for sales receipts and invoices via the app on your phone.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then choose Account and Settings.
  2. Click Payments from the left menu.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. An additional window or tab opens to an Intuit Payment Solutions branded page.
    - Select the radio button next to the QuickBooks Payments account you wish to connect with your QuickBooks Online company.
    - If no accounts are found, sign in using the QuickBooks Payments account login credentials.
    - If you do not see the QuickBooks Payments account you want to connect, select Choose another account to link, then sign in using the QuickBooks Payments account login credentials.
  5. Click Link account.

To accept credit card payments from the sales receipt or receive payment screen: 

  1. Specify the customer, date, ref#, payment amount, and add a memo.
  2. Enter discount, tax, and shipping amount if they apply.
  3. Click Credit (payment method), select Credit Card, then click Next.
  4. Choose how you want to enter the credit card info, such as swipe, scan, or key enter.
  5. Click Done.
  6. Click Charge.
  7. To email the sales receipt or payment, select the email button.
