quickbooks server conflicting modifications

We upgraded to QB 2019 for Mac and added another license. On the home computer, we keep getting an pop up saying that Quickbooks server has a conflicting modification to the company file. It asks us to chose 'This computer' or QB server. If I pick 'This computer' the message goes away for a few seconds and then returns. If I pick QB Server, the app disappears for a second and comes back without the form or job I  just created.  IBAckup is turned off in QB preferences and turned on in Server.

I'm here to help you with resolving the error you've encountered when using QuickBooks 2019 for MAC.

QuickBooks server should be installed on the computer where the company file is located. Once the Server app is installed, this will become the Host computer.

I’d recommend you follow the solutions below in sequence to troubleshoot the issue you may experience while sharing your company file.

Solution 1: Verify if QuickBooks Server is running and if the company file is shared.

  1. Select Go, then Applications and double-click the QuickBooks 2019 Server.app icon.
  2. Share the file if needed:
  • If the file is listed under NOT SHARED, select the file, then Start Sharing.
  • If the file is not listed, select + to add the file.

Solution 2: Check the Mac OS firewall settings.

  1. Go to the Apple menu at the upper left of your desktop, and then select System Preferences.
  2. Click the Security & Privacy icon, then the Firewall button.
  3. Let the QuickBooks Server app set to Allow Incoming Connections.

Solution 3: Verify file sharing permissions are set correctly on the host computer.

  1. Go to the Apple menu at the upper left of your desktop, then select System Preferences.
  2. Select the Sharing icon and mark the File Sharing checkbox.
  3. Add the folder where the company file is stored in to Shared Folders. Select + under the Shared Folder column. Browse to the folder where the company file is located, then select Add.
  4. Below the Users column, make sure the permission is set to Read and Write for Everyone or just the specific users who will be using it.
