Edit the contents of the QBPOS Shell folder:

  1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del on your keyboard.
  2. Select Task Manager.
  3. Go to the Processes tab and highlight QBPOS Shell.
  4. Select End Task.
  5. Go to the Windows Start menu and choose File Explorer or Open Windows Explorer (for Windows 7).
  6. Click the View tab and mark the Hidden items checkbox. For Windows 7: Select Organize and choose Folder and Search Options.
  7. Select This PC or Computer (for Windows 7) and go to C:\Users\{User logged on}\AppData\Local\Intuit\QBPOSShell.exe...\{last modified folder}.
  8. Right-click the user.config file and choose Rename.
  9. Rename it to user.configold.
  10. Close the window, then open QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop.
