Just did the update, my computer is not on a server, have restarted it 3 times already and still can't log in?

I appreciate all the troubleshooting steps you've done so far to log into QuickBooks. Let's get this fixed so you can get back to business.

There are a few reasons why you can't log in. Some of it are due to a damage company file, corrupted hard drive, or unsuccessful QuickBooks Desktop installation.

To resolve this, we can check your computer's Task Manager. This way, we can make sure that QuickBooks isn't stuck while running in the background. 

Here's how:

  1. Right-click the Windows task bar and select Start Task Manager.
  2. Go to the Processes tab and click the Name header to sort the processes alphabetically.
  3. Locate and choose QBW32.EXE, then click End Process.

Once done, let's try re-opening the program. Please allow QuickBooks to load because clicking the icon multiple times will prevent it from launching successfully.

After performing the steps above and the issue still persist, you can suppress the desktop while starting QuickBooks. This process enables you to open your company data file without any windows open.

Please follow these easy and simple steps:

  1. Press and hold the Ctrl key.
  2. Double-click your QuickBooks program icon.
  3. Hold the Ctrl key until QuickBooks starts and displays the No Company Open window.

If you can't log in because you forgot your password, let's reset it using the Automated Password Reset Tool. This helps you reset it in QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how:

  1. Download Automated password tool for QuickBooks Desktop, then select your version of QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Enter the QuickBooks license number and business info used when registering QuickBooks, then select Next.
  3. Select Download Now.
  4. Run the Automated Password Reset tool.
  5. Enter the token number received via email.
  6. Choose the same QuickBooks version from the QuickBooks Desktop Products drop-down.
  7. Select Browse for Company File.
  8. Enter your New Password, then Confirm New Password.
  9. Click Reset Password.

By using the Automated Password Reset Tool, you will be able to open QuickBooks and log in to your company file.
