While attempting to run the Host multi user access I got an error code of -6101, 193 and the Hosting process ended.

I'd just like to add to Memere's answer.

The link to the article has been archived, so allow me to provide you its content. There are three solutions that we recommend for this issue.

For the first solution, you need to confirm you're using the U.S. version:

  1. Search your hard drive for the winver.exe file.
  2. - The winver.exe file is usually located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. You can consult your IT guy if you need more help with this process.
  3. Right-click the winver.exe file and select Properties.
  4. Under the Details tab, find Language and verify if it is set to English (United States) version

Once you've confirmed it, you'll need to set the Windows Regional and Language settings to English:

  1. From your keyboard, press the start (windows) + R keys to open the Run window.
  2. Type in Control Panel and click OK.
  3. Under Clock, Language, and Region, select Change keyboards and other input methods.
  4. Select the Formats tab.
  5. Click the Format drop-down arrow and select English (United States).
  6. Click OK.
  7. Open QuickBooks Desktop.

Lastly, the Database Server Manager is responsible for hosting QuickBooks company files over the network. It controls access to company files using QBDataServiceUserXX. If it's damage, that's when errors like this can occur.

To fix it, you just need to follow these steps:

  1. From your keyboard, press the start (windows) + R keys to open the Run window.
  2. Type in services.msc and click OK.
  3. Right click the service that matches your QuickBooks version and select Properties.
    - QuickBooks 2018: QuickBooksDB28
    - QuickBooks 2017: QuickBooksDB27
    - QuickBooks 2016: QuickBooksDB26
  4. Under the Log On tab and select Local System account.
  5. Click Apply and OK to close the Services window.
  6. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
