Sometimes a damaged Windows file prevents QuickBooks Desktop from connecting to our online services. Follow the steps to download, install, and use the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

Step 1: Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub

The QuickBooks Tool Hub helps fix common errors. You'll need to close QuickBooks to use the tool hub. For the best experience, we recommend you use Tool Hub on Windows 10, 64-bit.

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). Note: If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Step 2: From the Tool Hub, run the QuickBooks Diagnostic tool

  1. Open the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub and select Installation Issues.
  2. Select the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to repair any Windows files needed to run QuickBooks.
  3. Select OK when the Diagnostic Tool completes.
  4. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

If you still see the subscription error after using the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub, try solution 4.

QuickBooks Desktop saves a file with your product and license info to your hard drive. If there's a problem with it, the file is easy to restore:

  1. Get your product and license info. If you don't have it on hand, here's how to find it.
  2. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Open the Windows Start menu.
  4. Type Run into the search box and select Run.
  5. Type C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8 and then Enter. If this doesn't open a folder, enter C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v6 instead.
  6. Look for the file EntitlementDataStore.ecml. Right-click it and select Delete. Select Yes to make sure.
  7. Open QuickBooks Desktop and your company file.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to register QuickBooks again with your product and license info.

If you still see a subscription error, you might need to change the Internet connection settings in QuickBooks Desktop. Follow the detailed steps to check your Internet connection settings so QuickBooks can connect to our online services.
