The default message on the IPP350 PINPAD is This Lane Closed until you select the Payment button from within QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale. There are also other reasons why you may encounter this message when attempting to process a payment.

This error may be caused by one of the following reasons:
  • Your copy of Point of Sale is not on the latest release.
  • Credit / Debit payment button has not been selected.
  • The PIN Pad is not on the compatible hardware list.
  • The PIN Pad is not configured in Point of Sale's Workstation Preferences.

Solution 1: Ensure your Pin Pad is:

  • Included in the compatible hardware listing
  • Properly selected in the Workstation Preferences:
    1. Choose File > Preferences > Workstation.
    2. In the left pane, select PIN pads.
    3. In the right panel, click the drop-down to select the model of your Pin Pad.
    4. Click Save.
  • The only one selected for processing a sale
    1. In QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale, go to File > Preferences > Workstation > Card Reader.
    2. Select None, then click Save.

Solution 2: Update QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale to the latest release.

Make a Sale and ensure Pin Pad is no longer showing the error.
