Before you get started

Before you get started, a few things to know:

  • Reactivating the State E-services requires Care to escalate the received form from the customer to Ops Team.  Typical SLA for reactivation is 1-2 business days.
  • You won't be able to pay or file your state taxes electronically until you're reactivated for state electronic services.
  • Don't deactivate federal electronic services, or electronic services in states other than the one that you're changing (if you have a multi-state account).

Change a state account number — Intuit Online Payroll

Step 1: Deactivate state electronic services

  1. Select the Setup tab.
  2. Select Update Electronic Services, then choose Add/Edit Electronic Services.
  3. Select Continue and proceed until you reach the State Taxes overview page.
  4. Select Paper state tax payments and forms.
  5. Select Continue until you complete the electronic service setup.

Step 2: Change your state account number

  1. Select the Setup tab.
  2. Under Taxes, select State Taxes.
  3. Enter your state account number.
  4. Select OK.

Step 3: Reactivate state electronic services

  1. Select the Setup tab.
  2. Select Update Electronic Services, then choose Add/Edit Electronic Services.
  3. Select Continue and proceed until you reach the State Taxes overview page.
  4. Select Electronically for state tax payments and forms.
  5. Select Continue until you reach the Print Your Authorization Forms overview page.
  6. Select Show My Forms.
  7. Print the authorization forms, sign them, and fax them to us with the included cover sheet.

Change a state account number — QuickBooks Online Payroll

Step 1: Deactivate state electronic services

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Select E-file and e-pay.
  3. Select Next to proceed until you reach the State Taxes overview page.
  4. Select Manually with paper coupon.
  5. Select Next.

Step 2: Change your state account number

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Under Taxes, select State Taxes.
  3. Enter your state account number.
  4. Select OK.

Step 3: Reactivate state electronic services

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Select E-file and e-pay.
  3. Select E-pay and e-file (recommended).
  4. Select Next to proceed until you reach the State Taxes overview page.
  5. Select E-pay and e-file (recommended) for state tax payments and forms.
  6. Select Continue until you reach the Print Your Authorization Forms overview page.
  7. Print the authorization forms, sign them, scan them and upload them to the Salesforce case.
