Rest assured that you can continue using the service to finish the 2016 tax year and we'll be here to help you.

For Intuit Online Payroll Household service employers

Here's what to expect:

  • You will be able to access your account to view or file tax 2016 forms, like the W-2 and 1040 Schedule H, and record or pay 2016 taxes until April 20, 2017.
  • You will not be able to process payroll for 2017 pay dates and you will not be able to manage any 2017 payroll taxes.
  • Beginning April 20, 2017, you will no longer be able to access your Intuit Online Payroll for Household Employers account.
  • All subscriptions will be canceled and reactivation for payroll processing in 2017 will not be available.

For Accounting Professionals

Here's what to expect:

  • As part of this discontinuation, your Wholesale clients will be switched to Retail. You will no longer be billed for these clients after December 31, 2016.
    • In order to avoid being billed for these clients, please keep the service level assigned to “Client Retail Service”.
    • If you switch them back to Wholesale this will result in you being billed for these clients.
    • When your clients log into Household Payroll they will see the Intuit logo in the top right. Also, routine payroll reminders will now be branded Intuit.
  • You and your clients will be able to access the household account to view or file tax 2016 forms, like the W-2 and 1040 Schedule H, and record or pay 2016 taxes until April 20, 2017.
  • You and your clients will not be able to use the household service to process payroll for 2017 pay dates and manage any 2017 payroll taxes.
  • Beginning April 20, 2017, you and your clients will no longer be able to access the Intuit Online Payroll for Household Employers account.
  • All subscriptions will be canceled and reactivation for payroll processing in 2017 will not be available.

What payroll info should I retain after I stop using the service?

Most government agencies require you to maintain payroll records for a set number of years. Here are a few reports that you should save for your records:

  • Payroll tax and setup forms - Forms like your 1040 (Schedule H), W-2 forms and payment coupons. To access these forms, click on Taxes & Forms. Then under forms click View Archived Forms. Change the Category to All.
  • Payroll Reports - You can access these from the Reports tab.
    • Payroll Details - This report shows details of your employee paychecks. Run this report by year.
    • Tax and Wage Summary - This report breaks down all of your various payroll taxes and wages for each tax. Run this report by quarter.
    • Tax Payments - This report lists all tax payments that you have paid or recorded. Run this report by year.
    • Employee Details - This report lists all of your employees' personal information, pay, deductions, tax information and Social Security number.

What if my pay date is in 2016, but the pay period crosses 2017?

You can still use your household account and run payroll as long as the pay date falls on 2016 date even if a pay period extends to 2017. You will not be able to use the household service to process payroll for 2017 pay dates and manage any 2017 payroll taxes. What about my 2016 payroll taxes?

  • We'll be here and continue to support you with your 2016 payroll taxes.
  • On or after January 1, 2017, you can use the service to prepare, pay or file your 2016 payroll taxes.
  • If your account is canceled and you need to prepare and file your 2016 tax forms, like the W-2 and 1040 Schedule H, you may reactivate your account for year-end form filing . Alternatively, you can prepare and file forms yourself using your tax reports for 2016.

What if I cancel my account before January 1, 2017?

As an active subscriber, you may cancel at any time. On or after January 1, 2017, you may reactivate your account for year-end form filing. Alternatively, you can prepare and file forms yourself using your tax reports for 2016.

If you've already switched to another payroll service, make sure to check with your current provider first before filing any forms through Intuit Online Payroll.

What if I had stopped using the service before 2016?

As of January 1, 2017, you will no longer be able to reactivate or access your account. If you need access to your payroll records, we can help you reactivate the service and access your payroll info until December 31, 2016. To reactivate your account, contact us at 866.729.2925.
