Starting with the 2018 tax year, expenses for entertaining clients, prospects, or business associates aren’t deductible anymore. You can still track them in QuickBooks Self-Employed to see how much you spend, but you can’t deduct them on your taxes.
Examples of non-deductible entertainment expenses include:
- Events like sports games, shows, plays, and concerts
- Sports like golf, tennis, or bowling
- Outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, rafting, or skiing
- Year-end parties for customers or business associates
Although entertainment expenses for clients, prospects, or business associates are no longer tax deductible, you can still track them in QuickBooks Self-Employed to see how much you spend and QuickBooks Self-Employed can also help you find other tax deductible business expenses to help you keep more money for your business.
