Send QuickBooks Self-Employed tax data to TurboTax Self-Employed using different sign-in info

Learn what to do if you need to send data QuickBooks Self-Employed to TurboTax Self-Employed, but you don't use the same sign-in info for both accounts.

When you send your info from QuickBooks Self-Employed to TurboTax Self-Employed, both accounts need to use the same sign-in info. This makes it easy to connect and send your data seamlessly.

But what if you use a different user name and password to sign in to TurboTax Self-Employed? If you need to keep both accounts the way they are, you have a few options.

Note: Simply changing the sign-in credentials of one account to match the other won't connect your accounts or resolve the issue.

We'll help you create a new QuickBooks Self-Employed company that can be synced with your existing TurboTax Self-Employed account. Then we'll move your data from your existing QuickBooks Self-Employed account to the new one.

Once everything is in the new company, you can follow the regular steps to send your data to TurboTax Self-Employed.

Once everything is in the right account, you follow can the regular steps to send your data to TurboTax Self-Employed.

If you need to keep both accounts, there's a workaround. You need to download your reports from QuickBooks Self-Employed and manually enter the info into TurboTax Self-Employed.

Step 1: Get your reports from QuickBooks Self-Employed

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Go to the Reports menu.
  3. Find the Tax details report and select the correct tax year.
  4. Select Download and save the report somewhere you can easily find it.

Step 2: Manually enter the info into TurboTax Self-Employed

  1. Open a new browser window and sign in to TurboTax Self-Employed.
  2. Start or resume your tax filing.
  3. When you reach the section about income, use your Tax details report to complete the fields.
  4. Finish filing your taxes.

If you're subscribed to the Tax Bundle

If you're subscribed to the QuickBooks+TurboTax bundle for more than 6 months, there's one extra step. The bundle covers your filing fees. But, since your accounts aren't connected, we need to send you a special code so you don't pay twice.

We'll send you a one-time code to use on the TurboTax payment page. This code is only sent out once. The code gives you one free federal and one free state filing.
