Is QuickBooks Self-Employed not quite right for you? Here's how to switch to another version of QuickBooks, and/or cancel your subscription altogether.

  1. First, cancel your QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription using the steps below
  2. Then sign up for a new QuickBooks subscription
Note: we don't currently have a way to automatically export data from QuickBooks Self-Employed into another QuickBooks product. If you want to keep a record of the work you did in QuickBooks Self-Employed, download the  Tax Details report. This can be found on the Reports page.

You can also download your transactions directly from the Transactions tab into a .CSV file. Importing these downloaded transactions in .CSV format into QuickBooks Online requires a 3rd party service like Pro Importer, or Excel Importer. QuickBooks Online only allows the direct import of Customers, Vendors, Chart of Accounts, Products and Services in .CSV format.
  1. Open QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser on your computer
  2. Select Transactions from the left menu
  3. Select the download icon located to the right just above the Category column.
  4. We'll export all the transactions based on the the currently selected time period, account and search criteria into a CSV file. (Tip: Check your Downloads folder to locate the file.)
Note: Although the categories from QuickBooks Self-Employed are included in the exported file, QuickBooks Online may not keep these categories when you import the file. Note too that if you re-import this file back into QuickBooks Self-Employed, the categories won't be imported.
