Sync with PayPal is a data-only one-way integration that syncs users transaction from PayPal into QuickBooks. Once activated, this integration constantly monitors your PayPal account for sales, bank transfers, and expense transactions.

You can get this app at, or via Apps tab in your QuickBooks Online account.


Connect the Sync with PayPal app to my QuickBooks Online account

  1. Login to your QuickBooks Online account
  2. Select Apps from the left menu.
  3. Select Find Apps, then enter Paypal into the search bar.
  4. From the choices, choose Sync with PayPal.
  5. Select Get App Now in the upper right.
  6. Choose the appropriate answer to the question, then select Next.
  7. Select Connect to Paypal, then choose Let's do it.
  8. Follow the remaining steps to connect and set up the app settings to your choice.

Get PayPal transactions

By selecting Authorize, your PayPal transactions will automatically and securely sync from PayPal to QuickBooks Online.
Note: QuickBooks Online uses standard secure Auth transfer protocol to your PayPal information.


Settings and mapping

The App Settings takes you to view/edit the accounts from PayPal that map to the appropriate accounts in QuickBooks Online. By default, Intuit has chosen a smart mapping method of categories to pick how it maps PayPal accounts to QuickBooks Online. If you are an advanced user, you can modify these settings during setup.

Past Transactions section

Past transactions section enables you to set up past transactions to import into QuickBooks Online. You can transfer up to 18 months of transactions from the current date during setup. By default, we do not enable any past transactions to transfer however, you can change that setting by choosing the drop-down and selecting the appropriate past time range you would like to import.
If you accidentally forgot to import past transactions during set up, use Sync with Paypal: Manual import overview to complete the manual import.

If you were previously importing PayPal transactions manually, we recommend that your start date be after the last manually imported transaction date, in order to avoid duplicate transactions.

Review transactions after importing

You should be able to review your transactions after they import by following tabs within QuickBooks Online.

Sales Transaction
Transactions > Sales
Transactions > Expenses
Bank Transfers
Transactions > Chart of Accounts > Select your preferred bank account

Note: Once setup, QuickBooks syncs with PayPal every 15 minutes and brings any new transactions from PayPal into QuickBooks Online. Additionally, you will get a daily integration summary of these imports unless you chose to disable it.
