Retiring software support is a common practice in the software industry. This is also known as end of life, end of support, or sunset. Software is regularly updated with new features as well as critical security patches. Each version of a software requires dedication from product managers, developers and engineers, care and support staff, as well as knowledge management and training. There are sometimes others factors in play, such as industry standards or requirements.
Internet Explorer 11 and the IE10 end of lifecycle
After January 2016, Microsoft will support only Internet Explorer 11. Older versions of Internet Explorer will not be supported. This means they will no longer receive updates, which can lead to a less secure environment for anyone using versions older than IE11. Intuit and QuickBooks value the security of our customers and we want them to stay protected.
