Installation
Minimum System Requirements for V8
  • At least a 1.8GHz processor
  • At least 256MB of RAM (512 MB if running Windows Vista) for a single user
  • At least 512MB of RAM (1 GB if running Windows Vista) for multiple, concurrent users.
  • 1 GB of disk space (additional space required for data files)

Multi-User & Multi-Store Configuration
  • Multi-user (2-20 workstations in one store) is optimized for Windows Server 2003/Windows Server 2008 client-server networks, and Windows XP/Vista peer-to-peer networks.
  • In either a multi-user or multi-store configuration, each workstation concurrently running Point of Sale must have a separately purchased user license, and every copy of Point of Sale must be the same version and level.
Recommended System Requirements (from some fellow users and POS ProAdvisors)
  • XP Pro 32-Bit or Vista Business/Ultimate 32-Bit
  • 1-2 GB RAM (XP), 2-3 GB RAM (Vista)
Important note for Vista Users
  • If you use Vista, the RDS Functionality will not work. Thus, if you wish to have POS integrate with QuickBooks Financial, you must have the data files for both programs on the same computer. In other words, the "server" system for both must be the same physical machine. In POS, this is machine is identified as "WS 1" or the Server (shown in the bottom-right hand corner of the POS interface). In QB Financial, it is identified as the Server (press F1 when in your company data file).
  • RDS can work under Vista Business if you open the firewall for the port that you assign for the RDS to use on both machines. If you have a network wide firewall on a server on router you will also need to open the port for both TCP and UDP on those for internal traffic as well. You have to run the RDS server on the QuickBooks financial machine before you launch the RDS client on the POS server. Make sure that you use a username and password that has full access to the company file.
