Online Banking 2009 Updates

Latest Release Information

The August ’09 update to Online Banking (R8) is available. There are two ways to get the update:

Automatic Update
1. From the QuickBooks Help menu, choose Update QuickBooks.
2. Click the Overview tab and click Update Now.
3. Select the desired downloads in the Update Now window.
4. Click Get Updates to download your selected updates.
5. When the Update Complete message appears, click Close.
6. From the File menu, choose Exit.
7. Start QuickBooks and click Yes to the message to install the update.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we worked to improve the online banking experience in QuickBooks 2009.

Online Banking Changes
Over the past months we have made the following changes to the redesigned QuickBooks 2009 online banking to restore functionality that was available in previous versions:

Change Release
Select “Add new” from a dropdown to add new names, accounts, or classes from within online banking. R4
Use QuickFill to enter names, accounts or classing by typing just the first two or three letters of a name and QuickBooks fills in the rest. R4
Select a QuickBooks transaction to manually match to a downloaded transaction. R4
Review, edit, and add multiple downloaded transactions at once. R5
Access other areas of QuickBooks while the online banking “Add transactions to QuickBooks” window is open. R7
QuickFill supports account numbers. R8
Automatically recalls the last account used for all name types (customers, vendors, employees, other names) R8
Enter new names, accounts and classes using QuickAdd. R8
Tab through fields on transactions using the “enter moves between fields” preference. R8
Amount fields support "automatically place decimal point" preference. R8
Save a transaction to QuickBooks using the Enter key or Ctrl+Enter. R8
Enter items on purchase transactions by using Ctrl+E to pre-fill the QuickBooks check or credit card charge form R8
Select which accounts to download transactions from in the online banking center. R8

In addition to these changes, you can choose the online banking experience from QuickBooks 2008.
To make the switch go the banking menu, select online banking and choose Change Online Banking Mode.

You can switch between the redesigned QuickBooks 2009 online banking and the online banking from QuickBooks 2008 (register view) as often as you like to help you pick the one that works best for you.

We hope these changes restore your ability to efficiently enter downloaded transactions.
