how to sort by company location? We are attempting to break out our chart of accounts so we can sort our profit centers by location. Wondering if I should use a "class" or "job type" when entering expenses/reveue from other locations so I can sort by this. I thought by creating COA beginning with _ _ - that these digets would separate the location, but I can't seem to sort by this? HELP!!
It sounds like you want to use a class for the locations. Then you use one chart of accounts but you can get a P&L by class.

I think the other problem I am going to have is we are currently working with 2 different companies, we wish to extract data from their software (payroll and revenue/receivables) into QB. To do this, apparently it is all extracted into g/l via the chart of accounts only. If the COA is not broken down by location then how will these extracts be brought over into the g/l by location? Is the "class" shown in the companys Chart of Accounts?
No the class is not shown in the chart of accounts.
