We are a local multi-office firm. We process approx. 2000 1040's per year. We have been struggling with manual leadsheets, routing sheets, etc. We want to better track returns through our offices. Client Tracker seems very limited.Anybody else out there come up with a good solution for routing/tracking/workflow?
I use the statuses in Lacerte for ind, corp, part, etc., but I only do approx 500 ind and less than 100 corps, part, etc. It works for me. PPC has a sofware out there called Tracker and it works for tax returns, accounting, etc. You might look at that.
Timevalue software (timevalue.com) has a product "File in Time". I have never used it but I have used some of their other products and their other products have worked well.
We use PPC's Trackker also (although I've heard they are phasing it out) and Client Tracker. Trackker is excellent. However, like many, hoping Lacerte comes out with an integrated solution soon as we also need to change our T&B software and want to stop using multiple programs that use the same data. So far, like Imaginetime the best. Has QB integration, very good due date monitoring system and great support. They are coming out with a pdf management program that will integrate with DMS. Should really help with paperless efficiency.
There is a good product out there that would help you. I am sorry I don't remember the name but I saw it demonstrated at a group of tax and accounting seminars run by one of the National CPA organizations. You should be able to find info on the internet by searching.
As for Lacerte, I have posted this before: Through the use of client tracker, statuses, filters, and custom reports, you should have all the tools necessary to keep track of all returns.
It may be more manageable if you are able to divide the returns in some practical way into more than one directory name (by preparer or some group theme)
