Windows 7 Performance
Is anybody running Lacerte and Quickbooks on Windows 7 64bit yet? We are interested in knowing if it is worthwhile to adopt this or if it would make more sense to just stick w/XP for another 3-4 years.

I am running Lacerte (not Quickbooks) on Windows 7 64 bit successfully. I do have one issue with an error message that continually pops up when using the left handed menu, but after discussions with the Lacerte tech people, this seemed to be related to my video card. I was able to work around the problem, as far as I know it is not yet resolved.
Video card is ATI Radeon HD 4800 series.
I am running Lacerte 2009 on a Windows 7 64 bit HP laptop. So far, no problems. However, 2008 does not work as well---odd error messages tend to pop up.

Umm... client tracker will NOT work in windows 7 x64 as per the Lacerte website... I can't believe this isn't a deal breaker for everyone here.

Per their website:
| Supported Operating Systems: |
| XP with Service Pack 3, Vista (32-bit & 64-bit ), Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit) The Client Tracker feature is not supported on the Vista (32-bit & 64-bit) or Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit) operating systems. |

Z.K.Audio: Dealbreaker for EVERYONE? Only for those who want to use the Client Tracker, I guess. Me, I don't care at all -- I don't use Client Tracker, and I don't use Windows 7, so I have no problem, but very seldom should one assume EVERYONE agrees with one's viewpoint.

Amy I read in another post that you used an excel spreadsheet to manage due dates and what not; we used to do the same before utilizing client tracker. The client tracker tool is/was very handy and far superior to an excel spreadsheet. Its "notes" field was also a fantastic feature for interoffice correspondence. Unfortunately, you'll never get to try it out if you upgrade to a more recent OS. I recognize it's not used by everyone, but it was a step in the right direction for Lacerte, who is not otherwise competitive on the practice management front with folks like CCH and Thompson.

RE: Client Tracker. We "abandoned" a rebuild based on the fact that it's not being used widespread and would require significant resources. Instead, we've been quietly working on what we believe to be a better solution - online office. There is a blurb about it in your renewal newsletter.

By the way, ZK Audio, I forget if the original post where you read about my spreadsheet for due dates, said "Excel" or not, but it's actually Lotus 1-2-3, Version 2.2.
As one guy said in a seminar the other day when I raised my hand as to "Who uses Excel Version 97" (which I use, as well as the '03 version) -- I'm really getting a great Return On Investment. I buy something and I use it "forever." I know how to use it, and have zero learning curve. The main way I use Excel, in fact, is to key in Lotus commands, which translate automatically 95% of the time to the Excel command that I "should" have put in.
Luckily for me, the fact that Lacerte has abandoned its Client Tracker program, does not make my Lotus spreadsheets go out the window.
