Which entity maintains QB program and files?

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

I am interested in starting a virtual bookkeeping business using QB. Is it the norm for me to purchase QB and have the Client's files on my computer, or for them to have it and for me to use remote access to work in it?

Either way -- it depends on the client. Some clients may do some of the work or have a bookkeeper and you may remote in to do payroll, reconcile, etc. Or you may keep the file and do everything and send them reports or whatever.
