I make more money on consulting/clean up work than anything else, but I do more bookkeeping. So... I'd say that 75% of my work is bookkeeping, but only 50% of my income is bookkeeping. The rest is consulting/clean up. Hope that makes sense!

Yes, that makes sense. Thanks. On average how many hours a week do you spend on bookkeeping?

This is not my full-time profession (yet!). I work a full-time job as Controller for a supply company so I probably only spend an average of 5-10 hours a week on bookkeeping. Several of my customers are quarterly and a couple are monthly so I tend to bang out a lot of bookkeeping hours in one week and just a few in others.

Dusty we started offering business entity set ups (LLCs and Corporations) from there we've been able offer clients QuickBooks set up and then either monthly bookkeeping services or quarterly reviews and tax services - because of our larger construction clients most of our income comes from their monthly bookkeeping about 80% the remaining 20% is split between QB set ups, consulting, quarterly reviews, entity formations and taxes. Since we've added the entity formation are set ups are increasing so we are expecting the percentages to shift to 60% monthly bookkeeping and 40% QB set up, quarterly reviews, entity formation and taxes. I hope that makes sense

I now specialize and do only QB consulting & training. I do new company set up & training, troubleshooting and clean up work, conversions to QB or QB Enterprise, etc. I no longer do any taxes or bookkeeping services. I have a referral network and it works great! Others refer QB work to me since they know they won't lose their tax client or whatever.
