What will solve many instances when QuickBooks won't print?

What do you do when QuickBooks won't print? It will print any other document on your system, but it won't print checks, invoices, report, anything. It may print only one thing but nothing else. It may print all but one thing. Is there one thing you can try that will resolve the many printing issues in QuickBooks.

Hello everyone!

Please note!!! This response will not resolve PDF issues!!! Click here if you are experiencing an issue with e-mailing forms and reports, reconciliation reports and saving as pdf.  The following article will walk you through many steps to resolve printing issues. It shows you how to delete the QBPrint.QBP file, which which you said you'd tried already. It also covers other things that can cause printing issues with QuickBooks. This is a hidden file, so make you can see these when you search. Also, if you use Vista or Windows 7 this defaults to indexed or favorites. If you are having trouble accessing printer setup, it is most likely an installation issue.

Printing Help

This fixes many printing issues in QuickBooks. If it doesn't, please post your question and include any error codes you may be getting in the process! The more details the better.

Best regards,

Amy K

I also got help from Amy but can't relocate the previous answer to the problem.  I tried hp support and lost the previously successful advise from Amy and now can't log into her answer.  Do you still have a copy of it?

I have tried to locate the qbprint.qbp file per your instructions for Vista, and it is not there. Do I need to rename this? If so where is it? Maybe this is the problem. I can not print reports. I need to get this fixed. Please help.  Thanks Mike Harris

I have not been able to print reports for some time now after installing a new printer.  After researching the problem in forums I discovered that by renaming the new printer with a shortened name everything appears to be "back to normal" for me.  UNBELIEVABLE!  Let me know if it works for your situation.

This is an crazy solution but worked for me!

I have VISTA HOME PREMIUM and QBPro 2009 which I upgraded from 2007. After the 2009 maintenance upgrade to R11, I lost printing!

Rename QBPrint.QBP to QBPrint.old in your folder /Program Data /Intuit /Quickbooks2009 folder

Copy QBPrint from the /Program Data /Intuit /Quickbooks2007 folder to /Program Data /Intuit Quickbooks2009 folder

Open Quickbooks and print any report and the QBPint.QBP file updates. Viola!

I tried the solution to create a new QBPrint.QBP by opening the Printer setup from the QBPro file menu, but is never worked!

You need an older version of QBPro in order to have an old QBPrint.QBP file to use as a substitute file. Intuit should have an older file for you to download if you do not have a previous version to use.

renaming the qb print file helped resolve only part of my problem.  My checks printed, but every other page printed in the WRONG format.  Checks normally print in "portrait" layout.  Well every other page printed in "landscape" format.  UUUUgggghhhh.

My IP on my wireless printer changed earlier this week.  Does that have anything to do with Intuit and printing?  It seems it started around the same time.  I wasn't pringting checks then; but reports started printing that way too....wrong format every other page..... what a waist of checks and paper.

I also just changed IP's.  QB suddenly stopped printing.  I can print everywhere else, even in this forum.  Doesn't make a bit of sense.  Could not open the answers where a solution was offered by Amy.  Says it's an out of date report.  I'm going to try renaming but have no hope it will work.  I'll have to export everything to excel in order to print my financial reports.  Thank goodness I don't do checks on QB!

I have Quickbooks Pro 2010 running with Windows 7 and the qbprint file does not exist on my computer.  My computer is a week old and it printed until yesterday.  If I try to run Quickbooks repair I get Error 1334.  I'm going to try uninstalling Quickbooks and not installing the latest update.  I think that's where the problem started.
