What is the proper setup for sharing our database on a server share.

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2010

We were originally setup on a multi-user, workstation hosted database. Now we have moved the database to a server share. I have not changed anything about the configurations on the workstations that access it. Now I am starting to develop errors with logging in where if  User A logs in first, the rest of use can't get in. But if User A logs in after any other user, then we can all get in no problem including the problematic User A. I have a feeling it has to do with moving the database off the PC that is was originally hosted on to the server. What is the correct setup for this type?

Hi , The correct setup is to install the data base manager and the company file (on a shared folder ) and then access the company file from individual computers.

Also ensure the following.

1. on all user computers QB should be on multi-user mode. ( Check under file menu )

2. On all user computers hosting should be on disabled mode.

This means the server would take care of provding mult-user sharing facility and the histing. You can check under the services ( under control panel ) of the server that the DB manager is in running status.

Hope this helps.
