What is reject code R0000-902 and when will I receive my refund??

ProLine Tax Online

I received a reject code R0000-902 that sd my TIN number had been previously accepted. I called the irs and they sd I needed to mail in my return and I may have been a victim of identity theft. I need to know how long does this process take if it is identity theft???

if it is truly identity theft it could take awhile--the one last year-that truly was identity theft took 3 months at least--he has been issued a special pin to file his return this year to avoid the same issue

also--had a client check last week on a paper return filed--IRS told him 6-8 weeks before its entered--so you might want to add another two months-i dont know if these rejecteds are getting fast tracked or not

I am currently working with a client who is the victim of identity theft. Same thing, her recently deceased husband’s social was used prior to e-filing the 2010 tax return, so we had to mail in her tax return (as surviving spouse).

 

It has been over 5 months of phone calls checking with the IRS on the status of her refund and they indicated that they have had a rash of these types of fraud cases. She has never received any correspondence from the IRS requesting information. We were finally instructed to file IRS form 14039, Identity Theft Affidavit, and send the appropriate documentation as requested on the form. We are hoping this will speed things along for her.

 

She has not yet received a letter from the IRS with her newly issued PIN for fraud victims.

For any one else experiencing this, file the 14039 immediately.  I am surprised IRS did not say this.  There is info on the IRS website about identity theft, what to do, and a special number to call.  That said, it still takes a while to get sorted.

wmr now says due to processing delaysI now have a expected dd of march 13th!! will this date change again?? they told me don't contact them until after that date.

Did you ask the Irs, if someone had filed anything under your SS# I did, they informed me that no they did not have anything on record at this time, 2010 was the last thing on record.  Now tell me how if they show nothing on record, could it be rejected for a dup number.. NOT possible!! I've called all the right numbers to be sure no one is indeed using my SS # and everything looks fine..

I would call back the IRS - ask them if they have anything submitted for your #.. first they might tell you they can't look it up but they can!!! Call the SS office and check with them too to be sure everything looks ok.  I'd not send the irs anything about idenity theif yet.. as it will take u months to get it back.  Just send it in if nothing else works.

You said you call the "right" numbers to verify that your SSN had not been used.  Curious, what numbers did call to do so? I would think only the IRS could verify your SSN was used on another return.  Would be interested since I had the situation for one of my clients.  I assumed based on the IRS reps review of my client's tax account that someone used her SSN.

As, instructed by the IRS, I called the Social Security Office 1-800-772-1213, they can look up all your records including tax records, mine appears to be clear of any fraudulent activity.  What makes zero since at all is that code 515 is dup SS.  So, how are they fitting in this r0000-902 when none of the IRS reps that I have spoken to can tell you what it is.  902 fits in at State level, (Texas does not file State Taxes) and also College funds.  Like the irs rep told me that I First spoke with just paper submit.. It will probably go right through.  Unless you know for sure its idenity theft do not flag the acct by sending any other forms.  As that will take months for the IRS to investigate.
