What are social security tips?

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

Are all tips subject to Social Security tax? I dont understand what box 7 is for, why amount is not subject to social security tax.  I am setting up a new payroll client, tips are processed through credit card machine and paid with their paycheck.  Is it taxed normally?  I thought is was but all the w-2's with tips in box 7 make me question myself

I set up a seperate line item, but they dont appear in box 7 of the W-2, am I doing something wrong?
