"All european transactions must include the VAT registration number on invoices and payments."
This is the message I get from recently updated quickbooks 2010 pro. It won't even let me edit a euro client and save change. Can anybody help please? I am not VAT registered.
You should be able to click on it and it is then ignored , but have you turned off Vat ?
Are you trying to invoice in Euro when your base currency is £?

VAT was on (after a lot of reading and trying to sort problem out) and it seemed to have sorted problem, with all rates at 0%. I don't know though whether I will be forced in to some report later with all QB frozen!
have put it back off as you suggested and problem re-appeared.

Dear reader when we use multicurrency feature in Quickbooks, it gives this problem..
I am looking for solution..
From edit preferences set the system to track Vat make sure you do not select to use customer & supplier Vat codes. set default vat codes to teh UK standard codes for 20% vat and "O"(Not zero)
set rounding to be both & save.
Now go to the manage vat and select assign vat codes here you can bulk change the VAT codes you have already set if any. You can remove the vat codes for suppliers & customers by entering nothing in the change to coulmn. Its also good to set the Vat on the items the same. Save again.
Now go back to the preferences and turn off Vat and save.
This should have cleared the vat codes from the customer & suppliers and vat for items.
Now try again.

It works all nicely for new setup clients, not for the old ones but I have found a way around it. I create a new client with same details as the old one and merge both clients together and it seems to do the trick.
