Using departmental accounting

How do i create and use departments so I can get departmental reports in addition to overall company reports

We use the "Classes" (ie, departments) in our company, and it works great.  The tutorials are very informative.  Each month I can generate a report called "Profit & Loss By Class", which sounds like exactly what you want.
