Urgent - Versacheck validation codes

US QuickBooks Premier

We are beginning our first payroll using QB enhanced payroll service and are using versacheck to print the checks. Each time we print checks, a validation code screen comes up. We have entered their validation code in the license management screen and it has allowed us to print checks until now. Now, we are getting warnings that we only have validation for 165 checks and we are nearing the limit.

We are using our own check paper and don't have additional validation codes. How do we bypass this annoying screen and does this mean that we have to buy a new validation code after every 165 checks?

Urgent because today is processing day and it's saying we only have 15 more prints! HELP!!!!

Since I posted this question, we have printed more than the limit that Versacheck says we have. We have just bypassed the screen each time and it goes ahead and prints the checks. So, I guess my question now is how the heck do I get rid of all of the warnings?

I too use versacheck. I have had very few problems, but there have been a couple of times I've had clients reinstall the checkwriting software. Never got the warnings you're talking about, but the database would become corrupted and the software just seemed to be confused. (Pretty sure it was the software that was confused, because the clients called me in to look at what was happening and I'm hoping that we weren't experiencing mutual confusion.)

I emailed their tech support and was told that the warnings are there because they don't support any check paper except their own. You can bypass the warnings, but it's a very annoying marketing tactic in my opinion

With this 2008/2010 program you are using, it will allow you to print checks by clicking through the validation screen. The validation process was put into place, at the request of all major banks. To insure our customers are Compliant with the Check 21 Federal Law. Since we can only support our check paper being compliant we use the codes. if you are going to use the software with other check vendors paper. You can either click through the validation screen to print. Or, you can purchase just the validation codes

Yes, I found that out, but it's very inconvenient and just downright annoying.

I love that they say "Since we can only support our check paper being compliant we use the codes." but then say you can purchase a code that bypasses that requirement (not cheap either)

The validation codes are useful for about 10-15% of the stock G7PS provides. So you have to buy more validation codes even if you use THEIR ink and paper. The system tells me I have used up the validated prints even though 91% of the ink is still unused and I have gone through maybe 180 out of 1000 check sheets.

G7PS is NOT a consumer-friendly organization. AND they really don't care what you think!

WBTax,  We have learned to just bypass their warning screens.  It's annoying, but we don't have to buy their product and the checks print fine on our paper using our printer and MICR cartridges.  Just click on "NO" when the screen comes up that asks if you want to validate more checks.  Works fine.

You do not need a validation code.  You can use any check paper.  See above, just bypass the validation screen

After you click on print, the versacheck print wizard screen appears.  On that screen, remove anything form the validatation code or toner boxes and making sure they are blank, click "next".  The next screen is the Compliance information screen.  The Validation Status box should say NOT VALIDATED.  Click OK.

Then the next screen is the Print Checks: Step 2 of 3.  On this screen, choose your account name and starting check number.  then click NEXT.

On the next screen, click PRINT.

The next screen is a warning screen.  click NO.

That should do it.  Please let me know if this helped.

I don't get the Compliance screen all I get are the two smaller screens that says Ihave less than 50 checks to print, and a validation code is required to remove the VOID

It looks like you may have a newer version and they are forcing you to use their check stock or maybe you need to experiment more with the warning screens.  If it says a validation code is necessary to get rid of "void", then you're probably out of luck.

Have you tried "none" in the validation code box?  Just a thought.

You could try contacting their support, but when I did it was utterly impossible to speak to a real person.

If you have an older version, it wouldn't hurt to try it.  Our's is about 3 years old, I beleive.  Another option would be to find another program that will do the job and not force you to use their stock.  If this happened to me, I think that's what I would do.
