You need to first convert the Excel data to txf format. I purchased a utility for $5 that works fine for my purposes. You can find out more about it at:

Your welcome. I don't know why ProSeries doesn't make it clear that you can import Schedule D data via txf. I called ProSeries support about this last year and couldn't get a direct yes or no answer. I tried the macro and it worked for a couple of transactions so I figured it would be worth a $5 investment. Best $5 I ever spent.

So, are there instructions as to how to actually import it into ProSeries?

1. With the txf file created, open ProSeries.
2. Open the appropriate client file.
3. Click "Import" on the menu bar at the top.
4. Select TXF import.

I'm having a problem with the upload process. Here's what I did. Converted an excel file into a text file using an application mentioned in the previous posting on this subject(Investotek). I go through the steps you indicate in this forum and get the following message:Importing of the following type data is not supported in this type of return. By the way I was importing stock trades into Sch. D for a partnership return.

I downloaded your file and had no problem importing it into a new 2007 client. Here is the resulting Schedule D:

Make certain that you are in forms view, not worksheet view when you import the file.

Latest post

My question is: how does the data get into Excel in the first place? Is it downloaded from the broker's website??? Thanks.
