Update error
QB10 says I need to update, I choose Update now. Message comes up: You must shutdown QB's components before the update can be installed.....No components are running. Anyone have a solution?

Possibly restarting your computer and then running the update.
Kill any QB process that is currently running (you will lose any unsaved data if you do this though).
I'd recommend the restart before trying to kill any processes though
I have done the restart with nothing running and the same thing comes up. When I do the update feature once I am in QB, it updates but then says I will be prompted to install, which never comes up. Once I close out of QB the whole you have updates prompts come up again.
How long do you wait for the install prompt? There are a few tasks that take QB a while to start up, and this could be one of them. I have not updated mine at all so I don't know how long it usually takes
A similar question was asked and answered with this work around:

"Get rid of the update files that you have now. See this article on how to do that.
I would then suggest trying a manual update - go to the support site and select your product, then click the "update" button. This downloads a patch file, you can run that to do the update. It uses a different update mechanism and should work."
