I have a balance sheet in QB 2012 that is not in balance. How did this happen and what can I do about it?

Try verifying and rebuilding the file (Menu > File > Utilities). Do this two or three times.
If this does not resolve the problem you will probably need to call tech support.
Also run the balance sheet for various dates. This will help narrow down the time period where the problem occurred.
