Unassigned VAT Quickbooks 2010

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

I have upgraded from Quickbooks 2006 to 2010 and have unassigned VAT showing. We had a refund from our last return and this is the amount showing as unassigned. QB will not let me alter the invoice it created to add a VAT code. Any ideas??

Consider how you book the VAT when the order is received. Do report or book it as an expense? Or do you register it as and increase in the total cost price. Be creative. YOU COULD BOOK AS A SERVICE THAT APPEAR ON EACH INVOICE ( AND HANDLED MANUALLY) OR AS A REDUCTION IN THE COST OF INVENTORY.
