Two industries in one quick books file

QuickBooks Canada : Pro 2012

Is there a way to have TWIO different industries in one file? Ie: I have a client that has a renovation bus and just bought a restaurant.  The tax accountant wants me to use the renovation file, but the chart of accounts for each are so different and the client wants to see a P&L for restaurant only each month.

In general, trying to run two completely different businesses through one file is a really bad idea (besides the fact they really ought to be two separate legal entities!).

Having said that, it is possible to do--you'll have accounts only used by one business and other accounts only used by the other business.  Cumbersome to be sure.

You also really need to use Class Tracking to separate your P&L activity by the two different activities.

If this answers your question, please mark it solved--thank you!!
