Turn off the Audit Trail
Is it possible to turn off the audit trail function in QB Premere 2007? If so, how would I do it?Thank you.

There was a way in QB Pro 2006. Or was it 2005 I changed it? Anyway, I would think it would be the same for 2007 Pro & Premier but I was unable to locate it just now. We updated to 2007 recently so maybe they changed the location. I thought the setting was in Preferences. Someone here will surely know where that magic little box is that you uncheck.

You can't turn off the audit trail in the 2007 product (or the 2006 version - that was a change when they went from 2005 to 2006)
That should be a customer option. Not a vendor option.
Audit trail slows down entering and viewing.
Thanks for posting drchorizo! Although you cannot delete the audit trail, during the file clean-up process, QuickBooks removes all audit trail information tracked up to the clean-up date you specify.
Hopefully that will speed up your file.
Thanks,
Amy
Amy,
how do i clean up the files to delete the audit trail in 2009 qb?? could u be specific thanks !!
When you say "QuickBooks removes all audit trail info tracked up to the clean-up date specified" does this mean "tracked" as in -the software accumulated the information, and whether or not it was used, it will be removed.
or "tracked" as in - the user printed out the audit trail or brought the information up on the screen for viewing?
You didn't use the word delete. Can a removed audit trail be recovered? Are there still options for seeing it?
Thank you,
Bicyclist
If you set yourself up as a user and later "fire" yourself, your company data will remain intact but your "employee" audit trail will be destroyed because you no longer are employeed by the company.
You'll have to set up any customized colors, reports, etc because Intuit does not provide a way to standarize user setups - at least not in 2006.
For me, I'll consider upgrading when they return control of the software I PAID FOR to me.
My question is this...if our accountant cleans up the audit trail, will we still be able to see the changes he made while working for us? Meaning, later, if there were any questions about what changes he has made, can we still see those in the audit trail report in QB 2011?
