There are a  lot of details that need to be in place to make sure job costing works and is reported properly in QuickBooks. I would suggest that you check out QuickBooks help; search for job costing. There is a lot of information available to help you. There are additional reporting tools in the Premier Contractors Edition too. You may want to look for training on Construction Job Costing, or find a ProAdvisor that works with contractors to help make sure you have QuickBooks set up properly and to show you how to achieve your desired results. I hope this helps.

Not sure how you enter bills, but when you do enter a bill from or payment to a subcontractor, you have the option to assign a customer to it.

If you have been doing this, then you can start with the Reports>Customers & Receivables>Unbilled Costs by Job.

This lists out what is marked as billable to a customer but not billed yet.

Then on the report you can go to Modify Report>Filters. Click Billng Status and click Any. You can also filter for the name of a specific job or customer so it narrows down to just that one.

But the ability to make custom filters is kind of limited in Quickbooks. Like I don't think it's possible to make a report that shows all the subcontractor (vendor) payments and bills listed under what customer:job they are for, grouped by your invoice number (to the customer).

Quickbooks is basically a database. In a database application like Microsoft Access you could do this, but building a database with all the functionality of Quickbooks out of MS Access would be quite a chore, if even possible.
