Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

A thumb drive is easier.  When you have finished work at the office, make a Backup (or Portable Copy - see your QB help for differences) of your company file to the thumb drive.

When you get home Restore the back up of your company file on your home computer.  Reverse the process if you work at home and need to update the file at the office.

It may be wise to use two separate thumb drives if you anticipate doing this often.  That way if one back up crashes or can't restore you will still have another back up.  Remember the files do not "sync".  Meaning if you make changes at home and someone else makes changes at the office.  A Restore will wipe out one persons work.

Thanks for being part of the QB community. Please let me know if this helped, by checking the solved button. If it hasn't helped, please post again.
Regards, Liz
