Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

Somebody may have more experience with this, but I don't see why not. Your EIN is a federal number. Try this link for more info: http://www.irs.gov/businesses/...

Not sure what type of business entity you are, but in general, unless you will be changing the entity type or creating a brand new entity in NJ, then you should be able to keep the same EIN.

If you create a new entity in NJ (e.g., file a brand new corp or LLC, etc., in NJ, unrelated to your NY entity), or if you change entity type (e.g., change from a sole proprietor to a corp), then you would have to get a new EIN.

More info about EIN rules is available on the IRS website's EIN general info page at:
