transaction detail by account

i want a report on sales. but it shows every detail on each invoice instead of total invoice value.

so e.g if i have had 40 sales so far this year. it wont just show me the invoice value for each sale. but the detail on every line of each invoice. which i dont want.

quick books says there isnt a way to show what i want. which i find strange. hence why i have  put it out there to see if someone know how to do it.

Are you wanting a summary of each sale, or a summary of all sales?

summary of all sales. where i think  is the problem. cant understand why this isnt available simply.

Have you looked at:  Reports>Sales>Sales By Item Summary?

thanks, but this gives me all the detail on invoice. which is not what i want.

i just want the total invoice value for each individual customer on a report. for year to date.

If you want a total for each invoice for each individual customer, have you tried a customer balance detail report.

You can customize it to only include invoices and the dates that you want.

That gives you the total for each invoice for each customer.

The transaction list for customer then filter for transaction type select Invoice & sales  receipt if you wish, or any selection that you need and you get what you want.
