Did INTUIT send an email asking for TIN Validation?

JuneAnn,
Thank you for your post to the Intuit Tax Online forum with respects to a possible TIN validation email. We are unable to address whether Intuit or a portion thereof sent an email regarding TIN validation.
However; the online group has not sent out an email regarding TIN validation. Perhaps with more information as a reference point we could direct you to the correct area which may have sent such an email. If you have any additional questions and/or concerns please contact us directly at intuittaxonline@intuit.com. We regret that we can’t be of more assistance with your post.
Respectfully,
Ron

Hello,
In order to guarantee that precise information is being kept up on our systems, as well as to be able to grant you better quality of service; INTUIT INC. has participated in the Internal Revenue Service [IRS] Name and TIN Matching Program.
For some reason your name and/or TIN, that is specified on your account is different from the information provided by the SSA.
In order to check and update your account, please enter the site.
Yours truly,
INTUIT INC.

The URL of the site is sketchy. I told them it was spam and I forwarded it on to Intuit.
This is the email I was questioning:

Legitimate Intuit Critical Notice (12/1/11)
Customers are receiving an email entitled "Critical Notice" from Intuit and questioning whether it is phishing. This email is NOT phishing; is a legitimate email.
It has to do with 1099K that is new this year provided on Merchant Accounts . TIN may not match if income tax form is filed in individual name and SS# instead of legal company name and EIN. Go to https://intuit.tinportal.convey.com
