Time Tracker does not recognize Outlook 2010

Online Time Tracker

Time Tracker does not recognize Outlook 2010.  I've used TT for several years integrating with Outlook 2003 and 2007.  I installed it on Windows 7 with Outlook 2010 and the installation programs says that Outlook is not found.

Has Quick Books updated Time Tracker to work with Outlook 2010?

Doesn't work for Outlook 2007 64 bit, doesn't work for Windows 7, doesn't work for Outlook 2010 - really?  Last I checked it was Q2 -2010 ... Seriously - how hard is it to support your software to make it tolerable for your users? Web-based entry is terrible as an only option - if you travel, you don't have 24-7 web access- and time tracking needs to be integrated with something like Outlook so you can see what you are doing for reference.  How about an iphone app? Wake up - the people who decide to buy your product are the ones who need this support!  There are thousands of firms in India or China who could write you an application for less than $10k in 4 weeks - is that too much to invest in your user base? Get your [removed] together before your customer base of corporate users goes to a software company that does.  PS:  Your company looks like a dinosaur when you put incompatible applications on your site and a Vista gadget is still in BETA in 2010.

I'm very frustrated with TT. Are they even part of Intuit? I wonder sometimes. As a long time QuickBooks user, this product falls very short of being up on technology. I pay $10 a month for an obsolete, antiquated product. Being a Microsoft partner and recently moving to Outlook 2010, I found myself in the same dilemma that everyone else is feeling. Intuit, get with the program or someone will come along (maybe Microsoft) and bury you. Remember Novell. Look what happened to them.

I have never written anything in a forum before but my intense frustration with Time Tracker has spurred me on. I agree with all the other frustrated users and cannot fathom how such a terrible application got on the market. One of the most frustrating things is that I have to be online to enter anything in outlook. Why was that decision made? Also while the data is being continually synced my outlook freezes up for sometimes minutes at a time so not only can I not do anything with the calendar but I also cannot do anything else. Are there no other options out there. I would write my own excel application but who has the time?

Our two companies use QB for all accounting, and we use Time Tracker for all employees and contractors.  We are purchasing new IT systems and they are all 64 bit, Windows 7 with Outlook 2010.

Intuit must keep their software current with industry standard systems.  This has gone on for months and is not acceptable.  We are having to manually enter Time Tracker data into an old system to get the software to work.

I was seriously considering purchasing Time Tracker as I am not happy with the basic billing that is available in QuickBooks. After reading the comments from current users, I am putting my decision and purchase on hold.  Intuit while offering many excellent products, seems to have issues with "3rd party" programs it sells.  The Fixed Asset Manager is a good example of a program that appears to be developed in the Stone Age and updated with new tax laws, but the functionality of the program has never been properly addressed.  Same problem with ProSeries Tax Organizer - great idea but not well designed and has same errors in since it was developed.  Sooner or later, a company will come along and Intuit will have to either wake-up or they will be a very large write-off for someone.

It's just getting worse.  Our business system with TimeTracker crashed and we are trying to do monthly billing.  Microsoft  no longer sells office 2007 and it's impossible to get any support from vendors.  I have completely wasted the past 24 hours trying to get things back in working order.  The only solution is to get rid of TimeTracker and go with a product that keeps up with current technology.

Over the past several years that we have paid for 8 on-going TT licenses, we would have saved a lot of time and money if we were just entering time in a paper based ledger.

Does anyone have a recommended TT replacement?

Thanks

I'm also very upset and looking for new alternatives for Time Tracker. I cant believe they cant fix their plugin for Outlook 2010. Mine worked fine for windows 7 and outlook 2007. The only feature that is not working properly in 2010 (i've installed it just fine) is the synchronize feature. After i mark a calendar appointment to send to time tracker, it gives a "Error -2088370057 has occurred". If they can fix that one issue, it will work fine. (Using Outlook 2010 32 bit).

I have been complaining about the lack of a 64bit Outlook client for over 2 years. This is so frustrating. I have never seen a company that is so unresponsive to keeping their product current and fixed. It has ALWAYS been buggy.

We need a good product that works with Outlook (all versions) and QuickBooks. If anyone has found/or finds an alternative please share it with all of us.

February 2011 - Any update on this yet?  It's been nearly two years since an Outlook add-in has been released.  I just installed Outlook 2010 in Windows 7 and I too am getting the 2088370057 error.  I won't continue to pay a monthly service fee for a product that's not supported.

I posted on this issue last February when I upgraded to a new desktop system.  I now have a new laptop, too.  Both systems are Windows 7 64 bit.  Perhaps it would not bother me so much except I used the Outlook entry system long enough to know my productivity is suffering under the web based entry system.  This is especially true given the deficiencies that system experiences (so slow on Mondays/last day of the month as to be unworkable).  Now it seems clear if I ever update from Outlook 2007, the problem will be compounded.

The total lack of responsiveness of Intuit to these issues (like this string, I received one small comment from Mithium "employee" directed in my case to another person's response to my original post) suggests to me there is no plan to continue to support this product in any meaningful fashion.  Add to the 65 bit Windows 7 issue the Outlook 2010 incompatibility and it seems like its days must be numbered.

To date, I have not found an alternative way to enter time in Outlook, not to mention download it to QBooks, but it is crystal clear that Intuit has no intention of solving this issue.  Perhaps we are so small a segment of their users that they don't mind leaving the issue in limbo.  At least they provide this nifty avenue for us to share our frustration with one another.

I don't know why Intuit haven't publicized this, but Time Tracker has been replaced by Intuit Time & Billing Manager.

http://marketplace.intuit.com/AppID-3316-Overview.aspx

I've been using it for a couple months now and it's been working pretty well in Outlook 2010 with Windows 7 32bit.

You'd think they would have contacted all the Time Tracker subscribers to let us know of the new product, but that would have been too easy.

Thank you for the information.  When shopping for new software, I saw that name later in the day when I posted the comment above.  I will look into it as a possible solution.  I agree the way Intuit relates to the Time Tracker community is difficult to fathom.  It is difficult to justify staying with them from a customer service standpoint, but the price of Time Tracker made it irresistible.

When shopping for a replacement for TT, I find it really hard to consider Intuit Time & Billing Manager...

Check out the reviews of this... I mean every single reviewer gave it 1 out of 5 stars. "incredibly poor" is the overall consensus for this.

I am really AMAZED at the lack of support for online billing and Outlook sync.

The "new, improved" TT was a total disaster.  After spending days chasing support and finally getting it to work, we found it was completly unreliable and screwed up our data so bad we had a full month of billing headaches with clients.

They could not possibly have beta tested before launching.

We have discontinued our subscription, uninstalled it on all machines and have gone back to Excel spreadsheets.

How can we ever trust this software company again?

Thanks to everyone for continuing to share this information. At least you may spare others more pain. I am limping through and looking for a solution and I really appreciate the time you are taking to warn of the pitfalls of the latest fixes. To sum up, after 2 years of requests Timetracker's track record of responding to repeated requests from 64 bit system users is frankly abysmal.  Not only are they not supporting OS's (Windows 7), they are not even interacting with new softward (Outlook 2010).  Cynically, one has to wonder if they read any of the comments posted here any more.  Given that the reviews of Intuit Time and Billing manager are bleak and the gap between functionality continues to widen with each advance of 64 bit operating systems and software, those of us who have remained loyal to TT and QB's are looking pretty naive.  In my field, the only reason to use QB's is if TT works with it--after working around the absence of a gadget to make calendar time entry possible again for 2 years, I think it's time to break down and look for industry specific accounting solutions with time tracking features built for the 21st century.  I will post if I have any luck and appreciate all who do the same.  Thanks--
