Texas Workforce mandatory electronic filing

One of my clients has >100 employees, and uses QBPro 06 with Enhanced Payroll to process their payroll. The Texas Workforce Commission has just come up with a requirement that all clients with more than 100 employees must file electronically using their QuickFile system. We have tried this in the past using Granite Software, the only (at that time) software vendor's conversion software to go from QB to the TWC file format. That software was extremely cumbersome and unstable. We gave up on it and went back to paper filing. Now TWC has mandated that the filing be electronic effective with returns file after July 1, 2007 (2nd qtr reports). This will effect many, many QB clients in Texas. Is QB going to come up with a way to handle this, or is there another way out ????

Hi T2000,

My colleague in Payroll tells me that we added Texas to the states supported by E-file & Pay in March. The capability requires QuickBooks 2007 and QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll (or QuickBooks Enanced Payroll for Accountants).

BACKGROUND: Here is information we published back in December on E-File changes:

http://accountant.intuit.com/p...

To take advantage of the e-filing, customers need to set up E-pay as their payment method (from the Related Payment Activities Menu) and E-file as their filing method (from Related Forms Activities Menu) to take advantage of the feature.

To see a list of all supported payments and forms, please visit http://www.quickbooks.com/Help...

My colleague didn't mention it but I know recent releases addressed various issues with payroll, so you should accept all automatic updates. As I write this note, that means QuickBooks 2007 should be updated with Release 7.

Hope this helps.

Bill
