Texas Franchise slip sheet

When the Federal Return is already finaled, and only the Franchise Return needs to be printed if you choose City/State only, the Texas Franchise Tax Return slip sheet does not print. We do not need the envelope slip sheet -- just the folder slip sheet. I have called Lacerte for an answer to this problem and have not gotten anywhere. Does anyone else have a suggestion? Also, we have companies from 2006 that will require a new Franchise tax return due to various year ends. Is Lacerte coming out with the 2006 Franchise Tax Update?

What is a "folder" slip sheet?

Maybe you could pretend you're doing the whole return, and do "forms, slip sheets" and pick the one slip sheet you want, then click "print this page only."

Hope this helps.

The folder slip sheet is the tax return folder slip sheet. I appreciate your suggestion, but we have far too many franchises that were delayed due to the late arrival of the form to change settings for each one.

You don't change settings. You just get into the return, click "forms" and find "slip sheets." The slip sheet you want, should be there. Am I missing something?

The slip sheet that appears there is the envelope slip sheet. The setting for that has to be changed to the folder slip sheet, but the program will not allow you to change from envelope.

This is very strange. I virtually never print a "folder slip sheet" for my clients, and usually print only the "separator sheets" and the envelope slip sheets.

Yet if I get into someone's data file, and click "forms," and then "slip sheets," all sorts of slip sheets will show, even the "irrelevant" ones.

If I am at a Federal screen, the "forms / slip sheets" will show all sorts of Federal slip sheets, including the "tax return folder" which I don't use, and which doesn't print for me according to the options I've set up.

When I get into various "state" screens, the only slip sheets that show are the envelope slip sheets and the separator slip sheets.

You're saying you have some sort of view which is Federal-only, and/or states-only? I'm not sure how to access that myself. I wind up always having "Federal and states" being available if I'm inside a file, whether I care about the Federal or not, about the states or not.

If I go into "print, print the state" that's different.

I'm not sure I have the same configuration as you, but I can see that if I somehow were unable to get into a Federal screen of '07, I'd be tempted to use the '06 program to print the slip sheets, but then I'd have the problem of the "tax return folder" slip sheet showing that I prepared '06 return, not '07 returns.

Would it be easier for you to go back to your '06 program, make a temporary change to the "tax return folder" slip sheet so that it says "07" instead of "06" when it prints, printing all the slip sheets you need, then changing back to the normal default for the tax return folder slip sheet?

Or would it be easier to create an Excel database and then let Microsoft Word (with the mail-merge wizard) print a document saying "So-and-so, CPA" and "07 tax returns" and then "grabbing" the name and address info from your database to print the name and address?
