Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! Tech support, programming

My IT guys just informed me that they are having to to an Internet install on each workstation, rather than being able to download the update once to the server and blow it out to each workstation from there. They called Lacerte and found out the old way is "broken". The good news is that my IT guy got a live tech support person in under 5 minutes!If Lacerte keeps going this way, I will be looking at moving our firm over to CCH ProSystem (which I used several years ago before coming to my current firm). Seems that Intuit is having the same effect on Lacerte as it is on QuickBooks (which is also broken for large users like my firm). Lacerte (and Intuit) need to talk with us and find out what we need...otherwise larger firms (and I don't mean huge, just more than 5 users) will leave them, and never look back. Or maybe that is what they want.

ummm....you just gave me an idea.
Since we have most of Creative Solutions software, we could get their tax software as well and have a 1 "good for all" package.
I will have a talk with the Accounting Manager.

You hit the nail on the head !!! I have just spent 5 hours today and tonight trying to get the stupid import feature to work. Seems the softare is broken. Let's see thats 5 hours at 150 an hour, won't take long before CCH gets a thumps up from me. Right now, we have CD 4 running and no updates. That's because we won't open our firewall up for the number of ports they want open, so we were going to just import to one machine.,. Guess I was wrong AGAIN !!v I sure hope Inuit gets the message that they are not the only choice. After the latest increase in costs, I am really disappointed in the continuing problems at the expense of "enhancements"
