It basically validates the registration of your QuickBooks license with your computer. In my experience, doing this periodically resolves a host of sometimes strange issues with too many users, inability to email invoices, or inability for QuickBooks to effectively manage multi-user access.

Thank you so much for your answer! It did explain some. One more question, please. If we have do the multi user (there's 2 of us) how do I know which is the primary account? It needs to be me, but I'm not sure how to tell. And as we don't have a server it would need to be set up under the "internet" set up. Where can I look to see if that's the way it's done?
