Support for Quickbooks 2007 Pro (Windows) Conversion

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

Is conversion from Quickbooks Pro 2007 (Windows XP or Windows Vista) to Quickbooks Pro newer than 2010 being discontinued?  In other words, how long can I use Quickbooks Pro 2007 (no payroll or other services are being used) and still import the company file into a current version?

I am aware of the licensing terms (use it forever) and the information regarding discontinuation of services.

My question is how long will Intuit support the Quickbooks Pro 2007 file format for importing into a current version?

No way of knowing that. We can only guess, based on experience.

The longer the period of time between the version the file was created and the version you are trying to upgrade to, the lower the chances.

I have successfully converted 2005 files to the 2010 format. I've talked to people who have converted older versions. But sometimes even with a 2005 to 2010 conversion you can run into problems. Usually this is caused by there being some damage in the starting file - anything you can do to clean up the data before converting helps. Sometimes I'll do it in steps - convert 2005 to 2006, then 2006 to 2010, and so forth. There was a big internal database change in the 2006 release.

QuickBooks has a pretty good track record here. Individuals have problems, but on the average it is fairly straight forward.

But, as the stock brokers say (or are supposed to), past performance is no guarantee of future performance...
