The solution
I don't know, but you may be able to e-file some of the states as "stand-alone" e-files on a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, etc, file. If 4 states turns out to be the max, then your main file could do Federal, AL, AR, AZ, CT; your 2nd file could do CO, CA, DE, GA; your 3rd file could do HI, ID, IL, IN -- etc etc.
