Use the Salary item twice in the "Earnings" window and charge each one to a different class.
You may have to change your "Company Preferences" to do this.
Go to"Edit">"Preferences" then click on "Payroll & Employees" then click on the "Company Preferences" tab.
A little over half way down the window, check mark "Earnings Item" for your "Assign one class per:"

What about for an employee getting checks from 2 sites, i'm already using class system to separate, but the Could not get QB to combine wages on SUTA to account for the excess non-taxable.
I am having the same struggle. I followed the steps posted by pdevore but the classes keep reverting to the same for all payroll items...??? cannot get them to accept and retain two different classes. Any thoughts?
