Socket error 10060

QuickBooks Point of Sale

I have no problems taking credit cards (verifying merchant account) at home in Virginia, and in a nearby NY hotel. However I'm getting socket error 10060 when trying to charge a crdit card at the trade show. No other vendor have these problems, and it's not my laptop problem. I can access Internet. So something is special about how my laptop communicates with this particular public wireless network. Its defauilt gateway is 192.168.4.12, while it's 10.59.1.1 in the hotel. I'm not a network guy, so don't really know this stuf. I've spent 2+ hours talking to POS Technical Support, they made a lot of chnages on my laptop, didn't help. Did anybody have the same problems?

Paul, the problem is with wireless connection. Merchant Card processing delays occur and the system will throw a socket error.

 I understand the problem is with wireless connection, however I have no problems accessing Internet in this location via wireless connection, and my laptop can access Intuit Merchant services from other locations. So I guess something is not setup in the network configuration, but why the problem is only in this location? It's a public non-secured network, nothing special about it.
