SLLC: Am I an Employee??

So I'm looking at all the IRS requirements, and a lot of the publications talk about filing forms for your "Employees" (I.E. 941, etc. ), but as an SLLC, do I need to file these forms for myself? IS the owner considered an "Employee" of the SLLC?? Do I make quarterly payments or just pay all the SE & FIT at the end of the year? Can't find anything that makes the distinction.

Hi John. I'm guessing you're referring to an SMLLC. As long as you do not make an election to be taxed a corp, you will be taxed as a sole proprietorship.

As such, you won't have to file forms for yourself as an "employee" of the business. You will, however, be required to make (roughly) quarterly payments for estimated taxes.

If you're looking for some easy-to-understand info about sole proprietor taxation, feel free to download my tax guide at http://www.pipertax.com/conten....

(For promotional purposes until it's available in paperback on Amazon, it's currently available for as close to free as payloadz.com--my file delivery service--will allow me to charge: $0.01)
